Cue has a new landing page. Check it out at https://cueplan.com.
Is it done? Not even close.
But it’s way better than the old one.
Habit Tracking?
One thing that is called out on the new page, but isn’t yet available in the app, is Habit Tracking.
There are lots of habit tracking apps out there: Coach.me, Beeminder, Momentum, Habitica, Streaks, etc. Honestly, check them out. Use the one that works best for you.
My biggest beef with habit tracking apps is that they are all separated from your planning or todo app.
And the planning app is where you schedule out your day and keep track of what you want to get done.
Daily progress on your habits obviously fits there.
But then, with a separate habit tracking app, you’ve got to record everything in both places.
It blows me away that none of the planning or todo apps out there have decent habit tracking included.
Cue Will.
The feature is still in the design stages, but there are some basic concepts that need to be there.
First, not every thing you do is a habit. Usually, you have less than ten habits you want to track daily. They fit in with your other todos, but you want them to be tracked.
Your list of daily habits should integrate into your daily planning. You can drag habits from it over to your daily plan. Or you can type them in, and Cue will recognize matches.
Whenever you’re looking at your daily plan, there will be an easy way to see at a glance how many of your daily habits you’ve completed that day.
Building habits gets easier when you can see “the chain” and are motivated to not break it. So there should also be an easy way to see how long your current streak is for each habit, and how long your longest streak is.
Habits aren’t habits if you don’t do them at least weekly. Initially, Cue’s habit tracking will only work for daily habits. Eventually, weekly habits will be supported, as well as anything in between (weekday habits, weekend habits). But there will never be an option for monthly habits. By definition, a monthly habit doesn’t exist.
Next Steps
Once basic habit tracking is in place, it will be time to do a public beta of Cue.
