Sometimes, you’re super productive.
Work is cranking, life is good, you’re tackling your todo list, and you’re super annoying to everyone else.
And sometimes you aren’t.
You just can’t get in the groove, the end of the day comes with nothing accomplished, but hey, at least you know the storylines of all the latest Netflix shows.
That’s how my last week was. Santa brought our family a Nintendo Switch and the latest Legend of Zelda games. It’s gradually become quite the distraction, which is no surprise, because it’s a great game.
But it literally has 1000’s of hours of good playtime, and I’ve barely scratched the surface.
If you’re anything like me, that’s a recipe for plummeting productivity.
Gates
So I set up a gate. I have to go through the gate, to play video games. And the gate is doing all my daily habits.
Sure, I could tell myself I’ll do them later, but if I get sucked in, it just won’t happen.
But with the gate in place, I keep coming back to my daily habits, and get through each one, because I want to play the game.
It becomes part of the game, in a way.
You game yourself into being awesome.
