I am a planner nerd.
It all started in high school. I remember browsing the stacks at the library and coming across a new book that sounded interesting to my 16-year-old brain:
Super Self: Doubling Your Personal Effectiveness
It was the first book I remember reading about increasing your productivity.
And I ate it up.
It had such nuggets of wisdom as “Get a car phone so you can make calls while you’re on the road”. Note, this was before cell phones were widely available, and before something like a car phone would have even been feasible for someone on a middle class income.
Or, “always fill up your gas tank when it gets to 1/4 full.” You know, so you don’t run out of gas.
But I was sixteen. And this guy made enough money to have a car phone. So I thought it was cool.
There were definitely some good things. It was inspiring and motivating.
It made me want more out of my life.
And it got me started thinking about how to be more productive.
It was a beginning.
Sometimes, that’s all you need.
