Not Frequently Asked Questions

What planning tool should I use?

What habit should I develop first?

How can I get more done, even though I’m crazy busy?

These are all questions I’ve NEVER been asked. Ever.

These are not the questions people ask when they are overwhelmed, frustrated, or unmotivated.

Mostly, they don’t ask question at all. They just try to avoid, hide, or escape from their feelings. Watch some Netflix. Drink a beer. Surf the internet.

Or they rush around putting out fires. Too busy to fix the root causes, they spend all their time hacking at leaves.

Which is too bad.

Those questions above could actually help, if approached wisely.

Planning tool? Just pick one place to put everything. Something like OneNote or Evernote is fine at first.

Habit? Spend 5 minutes a day planning out what your day will look like. Super simple. But it has to become a habit. You have to do it every day like your life depended on it.

How to get more done? Don’t. Sometimes, the questions themselves are lies. Try to get less done at first. Say no to unimportant stuff. Maybe even say no to important stuff. If it’s important, it will come back.

Focus on building up your first habit. When life feels more calm, add another one.

Improve your systems and tools, but just change one thing at a time. Wait, give it time. See what the first order, second order, and third order consequences are. Only then consider another change.

Ok, here’s a few questions for you:

How many days in a row have you consistently planned your day?

When you think of something new you need to do, do you know where to write it down?

Have you felt calm and at peace with your life in the last week?
