Task Inbox = Tomorrow’s Tickler File?

What if there were no task inbox?

We will already have a tickler file, and it works great for reminding us of things we need to deal with.

That would include tasks, appointments, reminders, or whatever that comes up during the day.

So, instead of a task inbox, Cue could place all newly added items into tomorrow’s tickler.

By default.

Then, when you go to plan tomorrow, they show up, and you can easily file them out to wherever they need to be – maybe a later tickler file, or on the schedule for tomorrow.

This way, the task inbox goes away, keeping Cue simple.

Now, that said, there is a definite difference between an item in tomorrow’s tickler that reads “Dentist appointment at 3pm” and one that is just a random thought you still need to work out, like “Come up with an anniversary gift”.

So it may make sense to mark the items in tomorrow’s tickler that were added as new items today. They could be marked as “inbox” items, even though there is no separate inbox, there’s just tomorrow’s ticklers.

And those items are in tomorrow’s ticklers so that you plan them out while you’re planning tomorrow.

It’s something I’ll have to experiment with as Cue comes together.
