If it’s a planning workshop, why call it Cue?
Cue has many meanings and connotations. All of them relate to the problems Cue is solving. Cue is the metaphor for much of the work you will do while creating the life you want.
Cue, n. Anything said or done, on or off stage, that is followed by a specific line or action
Cue is all about signaling to you, as a reminder, what you already planned on doing.
Cue, n. Anything that excites to action
Cue should get you moving. It’s not there to slow you down, to get you bogged down with planning at the expense of action. Rather, it should “excite” you to do the work.
Cue, n. Hint; Intimation; Guiding Suggestion
After planning your day, your week, your year, Cue gives you the hints and suggestions that past you wanted future you to see and remember.
Cue, n. The part a person is to play; a prescribed or necessary course of action
Cue helps you figure out your part in life, and the prescribed course of action to fulfill your role.
Cue, n. A sensory signal used to identify experiences, facilitate memory, or organize responses
Cue also should help you recognize when life is giving you signals. These signals exist to teach you and show you the way forward, to make sense of the things that happen, and to help you remember lessons learned.
Cue, v. To provide with an indication; give a cue to; prompt
See above
Cue, v. To direct to come in, at a specific place in a performance
There are times when it makes sense to make a bigger move, to introduce something new into your life. Cue helps you see when those times have arrived.
Cue, v. To search for and reach (i.e. cue up)
Your planning workshop is all about searching for the life you want, and reaching it. Then searching again.
Cue, v. To inform; give instructions or information (i.e. cue in)
Cue can give you information about how well you are doing. You can see trends in your life, and turn those trends into action.
Cue, etymology: spelled name of the letter Q as an abbreviation of Latin quando (when)
“When” is a great word. It’s the start of good conditional instructions: “When this happens, do that.”
When you get a flat tire, call AAA.
When you fail, take some time to reflect on why.
When you wake up, spend some time writing.
When your product has a bug, do five whys to get to the root cause.
The best conditional instructions are the ones you figure out and use to guide your life.
Cue, n. A long rod used to strike the ball in billards
Even in billiards, it’s the cue that gets the balls moving.
Cue, n. A queue or file, as of persons awaiting their turn
A cue, or queue, is an ordered list of something or other. Ordering your life is all about creating these lists. Sometimes the order is one of time (this before that), sometimes it is priority (this is more important than that), sometimes it is space, or people, or products, or shopping items, or whatever.
Enough With The Definitions!!!
Ok, some other reasons that Cue is great:
1. It’s short
2. It’s memorable
3. It’s visual
4. The cue.com domain only costs $1.5 million dollars
So, don’t go to cue.com. Nothing is there. Check it out at cueplan.com
